In the fall, massive herds can be seen crossing the meadow every day. Bald eagles, herons, owls, ducks and geese call it home. Because the property was once a cattle farm, it was contained with miles of electric fencing that bordered the property and impeded their migratory paths. It took a massive effort to remove all of the old fencing and replace it with wildlife-friendly split rail wood with crossings throughout so wildlife could once again come and go as they please. Investing in this lengthy, in-depth process allowed us to get district approval to clean up the creek that was illegally destroyed before we took possession of the property. What had been buried and diverted for irrigation is now restored as close as it can be to its natural state. A gas-burning stove, full-sized oven, large fridge, microwave oven and dishwasher mean no recipe is out of question. The Living Space Stoke the wood burning fireplace, play foosball and deal out the cards or choose your favorite board game and hunker down for an evening of friendly competition. Or gather around the bar, shake up some cocktails and choose a record to put on from our collection. Feeling like lounging? There’s a hidden TV and plenty of movies to choose from. Bedrooms The lodge comfortably sleeps 12 guests, with 10 beds in 6 bedrooms. On the main level you’ll find two bedrooms—one is equipped with two single beds and the other has a cozy queen. Upstairs you’ll find four more bedrooms, two with a balcony, including an expansive primary suite with a king size bed, table and chairs. The others include a queen and single bed. All bedrooms come equipped with a mini fridge. Bathrooms At the end of a long day spent outside, soak in the oversized copper tub or rinse off in the luxurious rain shower. Located in the heart of the Canadian Rockies, the Elk River originates from the Elk Lakes, located in the most South Eastern part of British Columbia.
